Hecke celebrates 30 years with KNCT

Bill Hecke has been providing weather service to KNCT Killeen for 30 years.  He is beginning his 51st year as a professional weather man, having started as an Air Force Weather Observer in 1963 and certified as a Meteorologist in 1971.  May will mark the 48th anniversary of establishing Combat Weather Team #1 at Phuoc Vinh, Vietnam with the First Brigade, First Infantry Division, known as the Big Red One.  The Weather Center will also be 30 years old in April.

Hecke’s previous station affiliations include KRXT Rockdale, KCTI Gonzales, KWED San Antonio, KLBJ Austin, KASE/KVET Austin, KLAW Lawton, Okla., KHLB Mason, KNOR Dallas-Fort Worth, KTEM Temple, KERV Kerrville, and KILE. KCEN-TV Temple, and KEYE-TV Austin.  He was also involved with the Armed Forced Radio, Southern Command, Panama 1973-76 and the Texas AP News Network 1984-1995. Hecke is a TAB Pioneer Club Member.
