First deadline for new Headliners Foundation of Texas’ Showcase Award is Sept. 30

Earlier this year, the Headliners Foundation of Texas launched its new Showcase Award for innovative and enterprising journalism.

This award recognizes news stories that have made a significant impact on Texas government or public policy, or the conduct of business or non-profit organizations.

To kick off the awards submission process, stories produced during the first six months of the year (January 1-June 30) must be submitted by Sept. 30.

After Sept. 30, only entries produced between July 1 and Dec. 31 will be accepted and they must be submitted within 90 days of their publication or broadcast.

The contest closes March 31, 2014, and the winner and any runners-up will be announced in the spring of 2014.

 Entries must be submitted for display in the Showcase section of the Headliners Foundation’s web site by qualifying news organizations or reporters, editors and other members of the professional media community.

The winner of the Showcase Award receives a $2,000 prize and up to two runners up will receive $1,000 each.
