FCC Sets New Deadlines for Stations’ Required Reports

- Texas Stations Have Until December for Political File 

The FCC’s infamously beleaguered online filing system for regulatory reports required of local Radio and Television broadcasters was struggling – and mostly failing – to accept filings that Texas stations were diligently trying to upload last week and weekend, according to several TAB members.

The commission had announced that all filings due between October 1 and November 17 were now due Tuesday, November 18, adding that announcements of further extensions for specific types of filing are possible.

This week, the FCC reaffirmed the November 18 filing deadline for most items while also announcing several exceptions, including one for broadcast filings in the Licensing and Management System, one for the Political File, and one for the LPTV new and major modification filing windows.

Of these, there are three highlights noted by TAB’s FCC legal counsel, Scott Flick with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman:

• Quarterly Issues/Programs Reports that were due October 10 are now due December 1.
• All EEO filings that were due October 1 are now due November 24.
• Political File submissions that should have been made between October 1 and November 12 must now be uploaded December 17-24. (Window for Texas stations)
