FCC Issues Notices of Violation to Several Texas Religious Broadcasters

The FCC has issued a notice of violation (NOV) to several Texas religious broadcast groups holding licenses for three FM translators and issued another NOV to a Houston religious LPFM operating beyond its licensed allowed power. In each case the cited broadcaster was given 20 days to respond from the date of the NOV. 

Centro Cristiano De Vida Eterna, licensee of K283CH; Hispanic Family Christian Network, Inc., licensee of K225BR; and Primera Iglesia Evangelica do Apostoles y Profetas, licensee of K291CE, were all cited for “not retransmitting its primary station.”

Acting on a complaint, the FCC monitored and inspected all three and found that K283CH was not retransmitting its primary station, KJOZ-AM Conroe, nor was K291CE. In the case of the latter, the FCC said “at the time of monitoring and inspection, the station was also not retransmitting the primary station listed on its Construction Permit granted on July 13, 2026, KAMA-FM, Deer Park. K225BR was not retransmitting its primary station, KLNO-FM, Fort Worth.

The three licensees have all been requested to “fully explain each violation, including all relevant surrounding facts and circumstances,” as well as state “the specific action(s) taken to correct each violation and preclude recurrence,” and provide a timeline. 

Bread of Life, Inc., licensee of KMAZ-LP Houston, was inspected May 4 by agents of the FCC’s Dallas field office. The FCC said KMAZ’s license authorizes a TPO of 4 watts, “but at the time of inspection at the transmitter site, agents observed that the TPO measured 19 watts, or 475% of the station’s maximum authorized TPO.”
