FCC Initiates Proceedings to Revoke Five Texas Radio Stations’ Licenses for Failure to Pay Delinquent Annual Regulatory Fees

The FCC’s Media Bureau has initiated proceedings to revoke the licenses of five Texas radio stations for nonpayment of station annual regulatory fees.  One licensee owes the FCC more than $150,000 in delinquent annual regulatory fees going back to 2013.  The stations must either pay the delinquent fees or show cause why payment should be waived or deferred.

The entities and individuals cited were Encino Broadcasting, LLC, licensee of KELG-AM Manor, KOKE-AM Pflugerville, KTXZ-AM West Lake Hills; Ernest R. Lopez, licensee of KXTM-FM Benavides; and Luis E. Giraldo, licensee of KPZX-FM Paducah.

In the case of KELG, KOKE and KTXZ, the total amount of the FCC fees due is $166,647. KELG’s delinquent fees cover multiple fiscal years, going as far back as 2013.  KOKE and KTXZ’s delinquent fees also cover multiple fiscal years going as far back as 2015.

KXTM owes the FCC $1,849 in delinquent annual regulatory fees from 2020 and 2021. KPZX owes the FCC $2,856 in delinquent annual regulatory fees from 2021 and 2022.
