FCC Delays Biennial Broadcast Ownership Report Deadline to Jan. 31

The FCC has published an order delaying by about two months the deadline for stations to file their biennial broadcast ownership reports.
The new deadline is Jan. 31, 2020.

The window to file the reports will open on Nov. 1, 2019.  Licensees of commercial AND noncommercial AM, FM, TV, Class A TV and LPTV stations will report the ownership interests of the station as of Oct. 1, 2019.

Commercial stations will use Form 323 and noncommercial stations use will use Form 323-E.  The forms are filed in the FCC’s Licensing and Management System (LMS) database.

Why the delay?
The FCC wanted more time to update Form 323/323-E to include “burden-reducing capabilities.”

Lee Petro, an attorney with TAB’s FCC legal counsel Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, said the FCC will be giving filers “the ability to pre-fill certain forms and copy and paste already-entered information from other forms.”
