ETRS Form Three Due Sept. 27
posted on 9.20.2021- Don’t Forget to Download New FCC EAS Handbook
Texas broadcasters have until Monday, Sept. 27, to file Form Three in the EAS Test Reporting System (ETRS).
The FCC and FEMA conducted a nationwide EAS test on Aug. 11. Form Three is the detailed post-test data report.
The FCC utilizes all three of the ETRS forms to generate its report on any nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.
The commission has guidance on filing Form Three on its ETRS webpage including a handy Form Three worksheet.
TAB will keep stations informed if the commission and FEMA announce any plans to conduct a nationwide test of EAS in 2022.
New FCC EAS Handbook Reminder
As a reminder, the FCC issued an updated EAS Operating Handbook in early July.
A copy of the handbook must be located at normal duty positions or EAS equipment locations when an operator is required to be on duty and be immediately available to staff responsible for authenticating messages and initiating actions.
Stations may download the handbook here.
The handbook summarizes the actions to be taken by station staff and facilities upon receipt of an EAN, EAS tests, or State and Local Area alerts.
