Downs to remain on NAB Board of Directors

"We make choices about our careers and mine has been to earn the privilege of representing this industry I’ve loved since I was 14," Downs said.

"I’ve advocated for a major initiative involving AM radio.  Whether it is some new receiver standard or a migration to a new FM band for AM licensees, there needs to be a plan to keep AM viable in the next 10 years.  I’m pleased that the NAB agreed to fund a full study of the options available to us.

"We have important things to do:  get radios into those millions of handsets in the market, end the threat of the Performance Tax, renegotiate streaming fees, and find ways to grow Radio so that we can all run profitable businesses," Downs said.
