Democratic Primary Debate

Democratic gubernatorial candidates former Houston mayor Bill White and Texas businessman Farouk Shami faced each other in a Feb. 8 debate in Fort Worth. 

The Texas Debates ? Race for Governor event originated from the KTXA-TV studios.

TAB, a Texas Debates sponsor organization, funded the satellite distribution, closed-captioning and real-time Spanish language translation of the debates. 

The feeds were made available free and unrestricted to all Texas broadcast outlets.  

The debate was produced by the TV station sponsors of the event: KERA-TV (PBS), KTVT/KTXA-TV (CBS) and KUVN-TV (Univision).  

Other debate sponsors include KERA-FM (NPR), Texas State Networks, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas. 

TAB is aware of stations airing the debate live in 12 of 19 Texas TV markets:  Amarillo, Austin, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland-Odessa, RGV, Victoria, Waco-Temple-Killeen.  

Tape delays of the debate may be watched in select Texas TV markets throughout the Valentine?s Day weekend.
