Deadline looms for TAB public service awards submissions

 - Scholarship applications underway

TAB will honor six Texas Radio and TV stations for outstanding contributions and service to their local communities with the Bonner McLane Public Service Awards.

Applications are due May 2 and should include community service activities conducted between May 1, 2015 and April 30, 2016.

The awards, named after TAB’s first executive director who passed away in 1987, will be presented at TAB’s Annual Convention in Austin Aug. 10-11.

Each winning station receives a $500 voucher to offset registration fees for TAB programs and is recognized at the Community Service Awards Breakfast during the TAB Convention.

TBEF Scholarships

Applications for nine scholarships offered by the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation are due April 15.

Students pursuing degrees in broadcast journalism, production, advertising or engineering at one of the state’s universities, colleges or technical schools may apply.

Eight $2,000 scholarships are available; a ninth – the Ann Arnold Scholarship – is for $5,000. 

Various enrollment and eligibility restrictions apply.
