CKP announces new seminar

The Carole Kneeland Project is seeking applications for the 2007 Newsroom Leadership Conference. Only 18 news directors will be accepted!

The three-day seminar for TV news directors will be held October 10-13, 2007 in Washington, DC.

In addition to providing CKP's unique systems for leadership, ethical decision-making, and hands-on management, the seminar will focus on advanced media issues, cutting-edge trends, new technology and marketing opportunities.

Attendees will walk away with leadership strategies they can apply immediately in their newsrooms.

Applications are due July 13, 2007.

Trainers include:

  • Joan Barrett, VP/GM of KWCH, KBSH, KBSD & KBSL, worked closely with Carole for most of her tenure as a news director.
  • Valerie Hyman, veteran 20-year news trainer who established the Poynter Institute's Broadcast Program, participated in a Nieman fellowship from Harvard and has won many awards including the DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton and the Peabody.
  • Kerry Oslund, VP/New Media, Gannett Broadcasting, is a former news director and industry expert on advanced media.

Thanks to our generous funders, CKP will cover the hotel, tuition, and most meal expenses for selected news directors. Stations provide all travel and some meal expenses.
