East Texas Stations Launch Effort for Tornado Relief

In the aftermath of the April 13th tornadoes that devastated Angelina, Houston, and Cherokee counties in East Texas, KTRE & KLTV are coordinating a relief effort to raise funds to help those hit hardest by the storms.

Caring For East Texas: Tornado Relief will be a cross-platform effort to raise funds through KTRE and KLTV broadcast television stations, websites (including our digital newscast "East Texas Now"), as well as social media (Facebook).

Special landing pages have been designed for KLTV and KTRE that will provide two donation options: The American Red Cross of Northeast Texas and The East Texas Food Bank.

Both organizations are already assisting in relief efforts in East Texas, but specifically Alto, where two children lost their lives in the storm.

“East Texans are always willing to help neighbors in need. Tragic events like this bring people together in an even stronger fashion to comfort, heal and rebuild," said Pat Stacey, VP/GM of KLTV/KTRE-TV.

"Caring For East Texas: Tornado Relief is the epitome of Texas compassion and resilience, and KLTV and KTRE are proud to be a part of this effort."
