Broadcasters mourn loss of Pioneer Bruce Nelson Stratton

Longtime country music broadcaster, Dr. Bruce Nelson Stratton, passed away on Feb. 25 after battling throat cancer. He was 74.

He began his radio career in the 1960s on legendary stations such as WPLO Atlanta, WMIL Milwaukee, KENR Houston and KNUZ Houston.

He was inducted into the Country Music Association Hall of Fame in 1999, Country Music Radio Hall of Fame in 2004 and Texas broadcasters voted him into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2009.

He served as the station manager of KFTX Corpus Christi and was on the air from 1995-2008. He continued to work at the station until his death.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be planned for a future time.
