Broadcasters mourn loss of Lawrence

Texas broadcasters are saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Mike Lawrence, longtime morning show co-host at KHKX Odessa-Midland.

Lawrence and his wife co-hosted the "Mike and Dana Show" for more than 25 years. They retired to New Mexico in 2014 and are set to be inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame next month.

Their morning show also has been honored by the Academy of Country Music (ACM), The Country Music Association (CMA) and the Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB).

“The entire KICKS 99 Family is devastated by the sudden passing of Mike Lawrence. Our prayers and condolences go out to Mike’s wife and partner Dana and to their entire family," said John Moesch, VP/GM for the West Texas Radio Group.

"He, along with Dana, provided so much joy to West Texas listeners and was extremely active in the community supporting and raising money for many charities including Children’s Miracle Network. Mike will be greatly missed.”
