Jerald Lee Green, 71, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016, at West Houston Medical Center, where he was receiving treatment for diabetes-related health issues.

Born May 6, 1945, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Lee M Green and Mary (Beaty) Green. He grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana, graduating from New Iberia Senior High School in 1963. He also lived in Florida and then throughout Texas for most of his adult life.

He spent his career in broadcasting, with a radio and television career spanning his years in Louisiana, Florida and Texas. He spent 14 of those years in Midland, Texas, where he met his wife Laurie during rehearsals at the Midland Community Theater in 1981; they were married at the theater the next year. He owned his own business, Green Broadcast Services, for several years before retiring.

He was an active member of Civil Air Patrol, both as a cadet in his youth and as a senior member later, and his participation was one of the great joys and passions of his retirement. He proudly attained the rank of Major and served as the Chief of Staff to the Texas Wing Commander.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laurie Green; his son, Lee Green; his daughter, Michelle (Green) Arnson, and her husband, Gabriel Arson, and grandson, Cooper Arson; his siblings Mark Green, Robert Kay and Susan Dupepe; stepsister Cynthia Reidenbach and her husband Butch; and stepbrother Michael Kinnibrugh and his wife Carolyn. After his father’s death in 1991, he maintained a very close relationship with his stepmother, Irene (Hrncirik) Green, who passed away in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association at http://www.diabetes.org/donate/
