Broadcasters mourn loss of Jason Curtis

Jason Skaggs Curtis, 35, died Monday, July 30. His father, J.R., was chairman of the TAB Board of Directors in 1993. J.R. also served as a NAB director from 1996-99 and was a former mayor of Longview.

J.R. died in Colorado in a motorcycle accident in September of 2000.

His son, Jason was born September 11, 1971. Jason grew up in Longview and attended Texas Christian University. He married Janey Thomas in 1996 and decided to go to work for his father-in-law, Jerry L. Thomas, in the oil and gas business. Jason also got into the cattle business in Weatherford.

An avid outdoorsman, Jason loved to hunt, fish and play golf.

Jason is survived by his wife of 11 years, Janey Thomas Curtis; his daughters, Margaret, Libby and Georgia; his mother, Sue Curtis of Longview; sister, Elizabeth Campbell and her husband, David of Longview; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bridget and Jerry Thomas of Fort Worth; brother-in-law, Alan Thomas; and sister-in-law, Carol Thomas.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, in the sanctuary of University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive. The Rev. Dr. Alan Lobaugh will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Gladney Center for Adoption or to the Texas Cattle Raisers Association, in memory of Jason.

For those wishing to contact Sue Curtis, her address is P.O. Box 4299, Longview, TX 75601.
