Texas broadcasters filled nine seats on the TAB Board of Directors this summer, netting three new directors and re-electing six more, as well as approving a five-member slate of officers.
Luis Villarreal, VP/GM of Gray Media’s KGNS-TV in Laredo was elected Chairman, the first South Texas broadcaster to serve in this role since KRGV-TV’s Ray Alexander in 2001.
Results were announced at the hugely successful 2025 TAB Show Aug. 7-8 at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Round Rock and concluded a two-month process of nominations and voting.
The Board advises TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, provides fiduciary oversight for the organization, and assists with all major organizational efforts, including the PEP program, advocacy efforts in Austin and DC, and membership recruitment.
Directors meet quarterly, with the remaining 2025 Board meetings slated for Sept. 11 and Nov. 20 at the TAB building in Austin.
Directors are not compensated or reimbursed for traveling to meetings, nor do they receive complimentary admission to TAB events.

2026 Elections
Elections are held each year, and because terms are generally staggered, one seat in each category typically comes up each cycle.
Candidates who didn’t win this year can run again next year. In cases where directors are term-limited the field will be completely open.
The 2026 process will officially begin with the call for nominations to be issued in early June.
