Success Stories

Texas National Guard

Each year since 1996 the Texas Army National Guard has used the Texas Association of Broadcasters’ NCSA program to recruit young men and women to become citizen soldiers defending America’s freedom.

Since 1997 the Guard has purchased a year-long campaign to help fulfill an ever-increasing mission of new recruits.

During wartime in 2005, while national recruiting for the Army National Guard was lagging behind its goal, Texas not only exceeded its goal but was the number one recruiting state in the nation.

Texas Department of Family & Protective Services

TDF&PS was concerned about the difficulty adopting older children, so they turned to the NCSA program at the Texas Association of Broadcasters.

The “Why Not Me?” campaign aired in two, three-month schedules during 2007 and 2008.

After the first 90 days, adoption rates in Texas went up about 17 percent.

After the second campaign a few months later, adoption rates rose to 25 percent!  TDF&PS spokesperson Darrell Azar said the real number from these campaigns is 700.

That’s the number of children who found new families. The NCSA program made a difference in the lives of 700 families!

Texas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Texas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are a voice for abused and neglected children through the power of volunteer advocacy and change in the child protection system.

In 2010 and 2011, the Texas Association of Broadcasters aired four NCSA campaigns for Texas.

During those years, Texas CASA reported an increase of 1,400 volunteers.

Texas Veterans Commission

The Texas Veterans Commission aired an NCSA campaign from the TAB during the fourth quarter of 2010.

According to the VA, pending claims from Texas veterans totaled 46,000 in July of 2010.

After the NCSA campaign aired, claims have risen steadily to almost 90,000 in June of 2012.
