88.9 KETR, an NPR member station in Commerce, Texas, is seeking a part-time program host. 19 hours per week.
KETR has served the communities of Northeast Texas since 1975. Commerce is located 65 miles northeast of Dallas and is in a rural setting just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Cities in our service area include Bonham, Emory, Greenville, Paris, Royse City and Sulphur Springs.
KETR is licensed to Texas A&M University-Commerce and is a professionally staffed station that also serves as a lab for students.
Responsibilities include hosting KETR’s presentation of Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Schedules will vary, although the scheduling pattern will be predictable and reasonable.
KETR is a small station, so the person with this job could be asked to assist with other duties, including on-air fundraising, but hosting will be the focus of this position. Those interested in reporting opportunities with this position should know that such opportunities are finite, though they do exist.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a new broadcaster to gain experience in public media, or for a veteran journalist looking to shift from online/print into broadcasting.
Public radio hosting experience is preferred.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Please send three audio samples in mp3 format of no greater than five minutes duration each, cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “part-time news host.”
