News Reporter/Anchor: KLBJ-AM great media.great people.great service.

You are:
A news anchor who knows how to find breaking stories and make them come to life on-air.
A media guru with three to five years of news reporting and broadcasting experience.
Affable, dependable, and a team player who is knowledgeable in local community and national events.

Emmis Austin Radio is a branch of Emmis Communications with a cluster of seven radio stations in Austin, TX including: KLBJ-AM (590), KLBJ-FM (93.7), KGSR (93.3), KROX (101.5), KBPA (103.5), KLZT (107.1), and Latino 102.7.

Emmis Austin Radio has an immediate opening for a full time News Anchor/Reporter for KLBJ-AM.  This is an afternoon drive position working 12pm-8pm, M-F.  We need a dependable and hardworking individual with loads of initiative who knows how to find breaking stories and make them come to life on-air.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Monitors news from multiple sources.
Interviews news sources at remote locations and executes live in-field reporting from the scene of breaking and developing news events.
Gathers and writes news by verifying details and doing research of news events.
Enters information into computer to prepare copy for radio, web, and social media.
Follows FCC and any other relevant laws, regulations or company guidelines. Uses discretion in dealing with sources.
Work the afternoon drive, M-F from 12pm-8pm.
Develops and maintains relations with newsmaker and community.
Ascertains local issues.
Other duties assigned as needed.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university preferred.  Associates Degree required.
Three to five years news reporting and broadcasting experience
Social media savvy (Twitter, FB, etc.)
Must be knowledgeable in local community and national events.
Valid driver license and state mandated auto insurance required.
