Job Description

KWTX News 10, The Breaking News & Weather Authority, Waco, TX seeks a Morning Producer for its number one news products.  Our award winning morning newscast is strong on resources, with two live reporters and co-producers. We seek a creative producer who will focus his or her efforts on using these resources to infuse the newscast with what's "new, now & next."   Successful candidates must have a passion for digging up and developing new stories for our morning audience and getting those stories to our viewers on-air and on our digital platforms in a timely manner.   

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Competitive self-starter, who can work well independently, as you will be working an overnight shift, away from the structure of a normal news day
  • Think strategically about the content in the two-hour morning show, winning and carrying over viewers throughout the newscast. You must be able to collaborate effectively with the rest of the morning team, and contribute to a fun, but competitive work environment
  • Must be comfortable with all platforms of digital journalism, from newscasts, to web posting, to social media, and push alerts

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Broadcast Journalism experience
  • College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field
  • Must possess exceptional writing ability
  • Leadership skills
  • Exceptional news judgment
  • Professional knowledge of news operations
