Details:
KENS 5 is seeking a Meteorologist/Traffic Anchor/MSJ with a strong focus on lifestyle forecasting and compelling storytelling. The ideal candidate will thrive in severe weather coverage, but also have the capability to deliver daily audience-focused forecasts.
As a member of our weather and traffic team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable weather and daily commute information. This role requires experience in weather forecasting and traffic anchoring. You should also be comfortable giving real-time traffic reports in studio when necessary.
You will play an integral role in daily weather and traffic coverage, reaching our audience not only on TV but also online and through social media. The ideal candidate embraces new technology and is eager to explore innovative ways to present stories.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to deliver audience-focused forecasts with impact
• Gather and present information regarding traffic news on broadcast, streaming and web platforms.
• Strong social media skills, including an active weather presence on Facebook and Instagram
• Perform live reports and interviews on transportation, news, and community stories
• Ability to build graphics that support your presentation
• Develop story ideas, write, shoot and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting
• Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories
• Develop original content through social listening and independent sources
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an On-Air Broadcast Meteorologist
• Bachelor degree in journalism or related field
• Availability to work a flexible schedule and fill-in when necessary
• Knowledge of shooting, writing and editing stories
• Must be able to work early mornings and weekends
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
