Purpose: To produce visually compelling content across platforms in collaboration with KUT News, KUTX Music and Texas Standard.
Essential functions: Produce visual content for KUT News, KUTX and Texas Standard. Collaborate with web departments on projects as appropriate and participate in planning meetings for stories and special events. Assist in the production of innovative visual content that reflects our public radio style. Collaborate with KUT and KUTX web teams on the best ways to present visual packages online. Assist in selection of multimedia interns. Offer training and critiques in basic photojournalism, shooting of video, online visual storytelling and best multimedia practices. Work with KUT Membership to create promotional content for fundraising efforts. Marginal/Incidental functions: Other related functions as assigned.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism. Two years of experience as a photojournalist/multimedia producer. Two years of experience within a news organization. Experience covering daily and spot news, in-depth features, music and culture stories. Ability to produce content on tight deadlines. Ability to research story ideas, schedule and conduct interviews, and shoot compelling photos and videos. Experience covering music festivals and production of multi-camera music videos. Knowledge of high-quality audio capture and mastery of audio-editing software. Working knowledge of DSLR cameras, and experience shooting multiple cameras and formats. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop and/or equivalent software. Knowledge of basic web design concepts. Experience with multimedia training or education. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in journalism (or equivalent work experience and education). Three years of experience as photojournalist/multimedia producer (including news, music and cultural coverage) for a news organization. Two years of experience in photographic coverage of music festivals and production of multi-camera music videos. Two years of experience producing video and multimedia content for a public media organization. Experience with editorial decision-making within a news organization. Ability to speak Spanish.
