Produce and anchor two hour weekend morning newscasts. Report when needed. Create graphics, write stories and produce segments for these newscasts. Ability to research topics and set up live interviews or interviews for taped segments. Be an energetic, clear, effective communicator when telling and selling a story. Contribute regularly to social media efforts. One to two years’ experience producing and anchoring. College degree is preferred in a communications related field. Strong command of English language; working knowledge of libel laws and generally accepted journalist ethics. Must exercise good judgment. Must be a highly creative, motivated self-starter. Team player. Strong social media skills. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Valid driver license and good driving record required.
Enterprise, research, report, shoot and edit news stories on a daily basis, emphasizing creativity and originality. Deliver the news in a conversational, credible style. Tell compelling stories, and have excellent live shot abilities. Cover stories and disseminate information over multiple platforms, including television, social media, mobile devices and the internet. Perform duties of on-line writer/producer, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial gathering. Facilitate the editorial gathering of local web news, gleaning information from various sources and contacts and reproducing the above material into strong compelling web material. Prior experience as a multimedia journalist/television news reporter. College degree preferred in communications related field. Strong command of English language; working knowledge of libel laws and generally accepted journalistic ethics. Must have social media savvy as well as traditional media. Must know how to use digital tools – cameras, iPads, editing software, cloud servers – to gather information. Must be a highly creative, motivated self-starter and be a team player. Must exercise good judgment. Must be able to carry and set up equipment. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Must have a valid driver license and good driving record.
Assure that all elements of on-air presentation of Fox O&O station are of the highest quality. Work in a team environment during fast-paced, high-pressure newscasts and other productions. Perform pre-production duties to prepare multiple systems for air. Target and square Vinten robotic cameras. Perform audio duties, including mic checks, set pre-fade audio for mics, live shots and sat feeds, set IFB mix/minus and check for proper IFB signals/levels, change batteries in mics and IFBs. Set up teleprompter and test foot pedals before air. Activate closed captioning. Operate Vinten robotic camera system, Chyron ISQ playback system, Solid State Logic digital audio board, teleprompter, as necessary. Operate iTX playout servers. Catch satellite feeds using Ku-, C-band and digital satellite receivers and check those feeds for quality. Tune-in and troubleshoot local area, microwave live-shots. Tune-in satellite live-shots using Ku-, C-band and digital satellite receivers. Shade studio cameras. Acquire beauty shots with our downtown tower camera. Prepare shows for automation using iTX. Ingest promos/PSAs/commercials into a server using iTX. Responsible for cleanliness and upkeep of studio and operations. Responsible for changing bulbs in studio light grid. Assist Directors with scripts and other pre-show duties. Assist Creative Services with editing. The Tech will be cross trained to be proficient with all studio equipment during a manual or automated newscast, and will assist in other areas of Engineering/Operations as needed. College degree preferred in related communications field, with a concentration in television production. Minimum of one year television production experience, preferably in a live newscast environment. Overall knowledge of television production, including audio and video. Team player who works well under pressure, with ability to meet tight deadlines. Must be able to work various hours and shifts. Must be willing to be on-call. Prior experience with satellite downlinks preferred.
VP, ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS
KTBC is seeking an experienced Vice President, Engineering and Operations. The VP reports directly to the V.P., General Manager. In addition to supervising entire Engineering/Operations Department, the candidate’s primary charter will be to provide, manage, and maintain operations of all technical equipment as well as supervise performance of technical personnel. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operations of station’s broadcast equipment including daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology to produce efficient, flawless operations. Must effectively manage engineering, production, news technical, facilities, security, mechanical systems and tower/transmitter. Must develop and implement current and long range technical and technological operation plans, prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee the preparation of both current and future capital plans to ensure satisfactory completion of assigned projects in a timely fashion. Must possess the ability to establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and studio operations. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA, FAA and Local regulations. Candidate must have at least 7 years’ experience in a medium to large television market. SBE certification is preferred. Significant technical expertise in the planning, implementation and maintenance of television station facilities, including RF facilities. Demonstrated knowledge of IT based broadcast systems including ELC and iTX environments. A solid understanding of networking along with digital and automation technology is essential. Effective communicator. Previous management/supervisory experience. Must be able to drive company vehicles. Valid driver license and good driving record required.
