Job Description and Responsibilities
12News (KBMT), TEGNA’s ABC/NBC affiliate in Beaumont, Texas is searching for an exceptional newsroom leader with a passion for journalism and mentoring in this very active news market.

This critical team member leads the day-to-day production of editorial content across 12News’ multiple platforms with a specific eye toward coaching the reporters and multiskilled journalists on staff.

Through careful coaching, this role elevates their storytelling, writing, crafting, and execution daily – to help maintain our status as a market and community leader in Southeast Texas.

•    Coach and mentor reporters and MSJs daily to elevate writing, crafting, and storytelling
•    Oversee the daily editorial process
•    Oversee the on-air execution of newscasts
•    Train, develop and coach the entire newsroom team
•    Source and recruit journalists to join the 12News team
•    Direct newsroom operations and schedules
•    Works and establishes community sources to support 12News content
•    Review newscasts daily to ensure quality control and brand touchpoints
•    Work with the news director and other managers to establish newsroom goals and work to develop and further brand
•    Track record of quality journalism and high integrity and ethical decisions
•    Conversant in the responsibilities of every newsroom role – assignment desk, engineering, production, reporting, photojournalism, anchoring, video editing, directing, graphics production, promotions, etc.
