KTEN-TV, the NBC (10.1), ABC (10.3) and CW (10.2) affiliates serving the Sherman/Ada/Ardmore region (market 158), has an opportunity for a full-time Reporter/Producer.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Reporter/Producer– a unique position within the KTEN Newsroom, must be able to report on the day’s events and additionally be able to produce a newscast, as assigned and determined by News management. This is a dual role to Report and/or Produce a newscast on any given day.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and produce stories for air, web, and social media platforms as assigned by Producer or News management for newscasts, specials, and special projects
• Report live from the field or studio as assigned by Producer or News management
• Look for points of differentiation in storytelling, including walking & talking in stand-ups and live shots
• Work independently with excellent editorial judgment
• Responsible for completion of daily assignments from news management
• Produce content for all newscasts, and publish to KTEN.com and all social media platforms daily
• Responsible for story ideas in daily editorial meetings
• Responsible to be on-call as assigned and in the event of breaking news
• Work with news management in preparing a newscast. Must be creative in building a newscast utilizing all resources of the KTEN newsroom
• Work directly with reporters in the field and the assignment desk
• Have excellent communication skills and interact with production staff and news management
• Promote, support and champion the KTEN brand

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• At least one (1) year of television news experience
• Pleasant and engaging in appearance and demeanor
• College degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field is preferred
• Familiarity and proficiency with all KTEN social and digital platforms
• Proficiency with iNews and/or ENPS
• Must have a valid driver’s license

PREFERRED SKILLS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Good eyesight and hearing, ability to walk upstairs and sometimes long distances, ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds, ability to sit for a long period of time, ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline, good manual and overall physical dexterity.
