Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Market Manager to oversee all aspects of station operations You will lead a team of professionals in sales, marketing, production, programming, and administration to achieve the stations’ strategic objectives. This role requires a leader with a strong understanding of the broadcast industry and excellent management skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving revenue growth, managing sales teams, and developing strategic initiatives within the broadcast TV and digital media landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve the station's objectives in community engagement, revenue generation, and market share expansion. Drive innovation and adaptability in response to changing industry trends and consumer behavior.
- Team Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to a diverse team of professionals including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development. Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales professionals to achieve individual and team targets. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to ensure team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Sales and Advertising: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and implement effective advertising and sponsorship strategies for broadcast television and digital advertising. Foster relationships with advertisers and agencies to understand their business needs and develop customized advertising solutions that drive results and maximize revenue opportunities.
- Revenue Generation: Set sales goals and objectives that drive revenue growth through the sale of advertising inventory across broadcast TV and digital platforms. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the client base and increase market share. Monitor sales pipelines and track progress towards revenue targets, taking proactive measures to address any deviations.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the face of the station in the local community, building relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and viewers. Represent the station at industry events and participate with local boards and non-profit groups.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure the station operates efficiently and meets financial targets. Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
- Content Development and Programming: Work closely with programming and production teams to curate a diverse and engaging content lineup that resonates with the station's target audience. Monitor audience feedback and ratings to inform programming decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments such as news, production, and engineering to ensure seamless execution of station initiatives. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies with overall business objectives. Provide insights and feedback to product development teams to inform the creation of new advertising products and services.
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FCC regulations, copyright laws, and industry standards for content quality and decency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior management role within the television broadcasting industry, with a track record of driving revenue growth and audience engagement.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their full potential.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate a clear vision and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and a passion for storytelling and content creation.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead through change.
