Position Title: Development Officer
Status: Full time/hourly (non-exempt)
Position Summary: The Development Officer manages the daily activities associated with the planning and coordinating of assigned events, key fundraising initiatives, sponsorships, and outreach to raise awareness and support for KEDT.
Requirements
• College degree plus at least two years’ experience planning, coordinating and executing fundraising events.
• Supervisory experience and team building leadership
• Budget management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Strength in handling requests in a timely and diplomatic manner
• Available to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to work with a variety of personalities, including members of staff and volunteers
• Dependability: ability to assume and carry out the commitment and obligations of the position
Specific Job Experiences
Development
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of all facets of KEDT’s fundraising and outreach initiatives
• Solicit donations and sponsorships from a wide variety of corporate and individual prospects, utilizing in-person meetings, phone, e-mail, and direct mail.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential and current donors
Computer Skills
• Demonstrate competency with all Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint
• Demonstrate an understanding of the functioning of fundraising donor database software
Communication
• Demonstrate the ability to clearly express the mission, values, and programs of KEDT in individual and large group settings
• Respond to phone and email messages in a timely manner
• Use discretion when sharing information
Public Relations
• Communicate articulately, knowledgeably, and appropriately when representing KEDT in meetings with potential donors, sponsors and members of the community when representing KEDT
• Interact effectively with members of media to secure event coverage through event calendars, articles and Social Media
• Distribute press releases to promote events
• Build relationships and utilize various networks and community connections to get desired results
Essential Functions
• Plan and coordinate KEDT’s fundraising, including soliciting and securing donations and sponsorships, coordinating, managing project budgets and supervising/coordinating logistics
• Maintain tracking of event-related activities such as: timelines, revenue and expenditures, and post event-reporting
• Develop promotional materials, invitations and event public relations plan including the use of print and electronic media with KEDT Graphic Artist
OTHER
• Reliable transportation
• Position involves some travel
• A valid Texas Driver’s license
• Able to pass background and/or drug test
• Able to comply with KEDT COVID-19 Policy Requirements
