KUT, Austin’s NPR affiliate, and KUTX, the Austin Music Experience, are seeking a fulltime podcast fellow to work with and learn from the producers, reporters and hosts who create the podcasts of KUT & KUTX Studios.
This is a one-year position as we develop our podcast team and strategy, with potential but no guarantee for a continued role at the stations. This role will work closely with colleagues across the station of all different backgrounds and skills. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to work well within a team and uphold and further KUT’s mission to provide a diverse, equitable, accessible and inclusive workplace, as well as cover a diverse community.

Assist with audio editing and mixing for podcasts and promos
Organize and upload podcast content
Help with marketing -- especially podcast marketing in non-traditional media
Help with the social media strategy for individual podcasts and help develop the KUT/KUTX Studios social media presence.
Assist with the development of new shows for KUT and KUTX studios, with a special focus on reaching new and diverse audiences
Audio production experience. Strong writing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines. Clear verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Previous on-air hosting or reporting experience. Newsroom experience and proven ability to handle breaking news situations. Ability to use Adobe Audition and mix audio stories for broadcast. Spanish language fluency.
$40,000 - $42,000 + based on experience and qualifications
Standard office environment. Work will be remote and in-person, with flexible work arrangements.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
