Job Description

Univision Austin is looking for a dynamic and experienced On-Air Personality to join our Radio/TV talent pool.  This person must have passion for our brand, inform, entertain, and engage listeners in the Austin area. Individuals may be required to serve as Master of Ceremonies for public and/or private events and is required to represent our organization in a welcoming and positive manner. Candidate must contribute to our digital and TV platforms with the same enthusiasm and sense of urgency across all mediums. The position is best represented by an individual with a versatile on-air “personality” focusing on sales integration, entertainment, sports, health, wellness, and technology content. Host must be able to exercise good judgement and journalistic principles with regard to what constitutes “good taste” and must be able to work within guidelines provided by the Director of Operations and Univision’s Broadcast Standards department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform live broadcast show that is entertaining and informative.
  • Comment on music and other matters, such as weather and traffic. 
  • Select and prepare program content: Gather new stories, audio, and write content for the show.
  • Execution of TV and Radio interviews with show guests, such as artists, clients, community guests and expand on their lives, their work, and topics of current interest.
  • Liaise with Content and Programming Teams to determine suitable content when needed.
  • Announce station breaks, commercials, and public service announcements. 
  • Record commercials for later broadcast.
  • Acts as host and/or make promotional appearances at public or private events representing the Station. Events such as Van Hits, Remotes, Station Presence, Town Halls, Charitable, Community, etc.
  • Provide commentary and conduct interviews during “Live” transmissions, and other events.
  • Maintain and grow the station's ratings in the assigned day part.
  • Assist in the branding of the station via music, imaging, social media, and special events.
  • Produce audiovisual content for digital and social media platforms, including but not limited to, Web site, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok and Snapchat.
  • Pitch segments/ideas and work closely with supervisor and Content Director.
  • Establish a strong and effective relationship with the station’s Sales team and clients.
  • Broadcast live from remote locations as required for Digital, TV and/or Radio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Mass Communication experience, preferably in Spanish language television/radio.
  • Must possess impeccable diction and excellent pronunciation in the Spanish language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Coachable, open minded and unbiased.
  • Proficiency in usage of social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
  • Pleasant and well-controlled voice and good timing when speaking on air
  • Must be creative, have a sharp wit and able to improvise and think quickly while on air
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret all written and oral information received
  • Socially informed and perceptive, up to date and in tune daily with local and national current events as well as listeners lifestyles.
  • Knowledgeable in popular Latin music genres and other genres as well: Pop, Spanish Contemporary, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Spanish Urban, etc.
  • Computer Literacy:  Microsoft Office and knowledge of Audio Software such as Adobe Audition and Zetta.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or equivalent experience 
  • Experience with Concerts:  Production, Promotion, Relations with Artists and Promoters.
  • Recognized personality in major market(s) a plus.
  • Knowledge of current events
  • Ability to relate to the audience and have a strong listener interaction
  • Excellent problem-solving and prioritizing skills
  • Must be a team player with solid show content judgement.
  • Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels
  • Requires knowledge of the Hispanic community and traditions.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge in audio and video editing software is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish verbal and written skills 
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in operation of control board, remote broadcasting, and other related production equipment
  • Must be creative and innovative with a strong work ethic

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work from office in Austin Texas.
  • Employment/education will be verified
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license with good driving record.

Physical Requirements (Optional)

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach and sit for up to (8) hours.
