EAS Required Monthly Test

This is a test of the Emergency Alert System.
- Schedule set annually by Texas’ two Primary Entry Point (PEP) Stations: WBAP-AM Dallas-Fort Worth and KTRH-AM Houston
- The PEP stations initiate the RMT on the Tuesday of the first full week of each month
- If the RMT falls on a holiday, the test will take place on the following Wednesday
- Other EAS regions receive the RMT via either a daisy chain relay or by the Texas State Networks’ satellite dissemination
- If a station doesn’t receive an RMT, the FCC requires the station must make “a good faith effort”ť to determine why it was not received
- It is sufficient to make an inquiry to the local primary station and note the inquiry in the station’s EAS log
