DUTIES

-Brainstorm news stories throughout the day.
-Make connections with local police, City Council, Commissioners Court and other local news makers.
-Perform daily beat checks.
-Monitor cable and online news sites throughout the day.
-Conduct spontaneous interviews and attend news conferences.
-Create 5+ news stories a day from inception to on-air ready including writing, voicing and editing.
-Cover feature stories, breaking news, continuing stories.
-Perform live reports throughout the day.
-Update website continuously.

REQUIREMENTS

-Must be self motivated.
-Knowledge of how to write for radio (i.e. clear, concise and to the point).
-Knowledge of what makes for a good news story, informative yet entertaining.
-Be able to think on your feet and perform at a moments notice.
-Be creative and think outside the box when it comes to news.
-Be willing to approach complete strangers to get the real story.
-Knowledge and experience of maintaining websites and content.
-Knowledge of Cool Edit and Sony Sound Forge for audio editing.
-Be highly organized in terms of notes, phone numbers and time management.
-Be a clear, concise communicator when speaking and writing.
-Be a "news junkie".
-Knowledge of what’s going on locally and what matters to KTSA listeners.
